falmouth soul sensation

17 years of solid soul 2007- 2024

Over the 17 years we've featured a lot of local musicians and singers, 20 vocalists , 5 bass players, 3 drummers, 4 keyboard players, 3 percussionists and 14 horn players. Many have cut their teeth as players and moved on to form or play with other bands and we are proud to have been part of their story.

Cornwall’s Kings and Queens of Soul

Falmouth Soul Sensation was formed in 2007 by Bob Black to give opportunities to young singers and musicians to gain experience of working in a large band environment. This led to a vibrant and exciting mixture of ages and experience playing at events and functions across the county. It still performs its initial function but has developed into one of the best party bands in the county.

Playing classic soul from the likes of Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett, the Supremes, Marvellettes, Martha and the Vandellas and many more, the band has been booked back at almost every venue it has played at, headlining The Falmouth Carnival, The Acorn Theatre, Festivals like Bash out the Back and Looe Music Festival, supporting legends like Geno Washington, The Three Degrees, The Selector, Bad Manners and many more. With their sparkling female harmonies and upbeat horn section, the talented rhythm section drives this outfit through a joyous performance of individuals who simply love to play together. Known for an infectious enjoyment of everything soul, they sprinkle the odd modern classic or northern soul tribute into every performance, sometimes just for the fun of it.

#

Soul Sensation, while predominantly a live act, have recorded CD and Vinyl albums of some of their favourite Archive soul music. The band continue to please audiences across the generations, keeping soul music “live” across the county.
